Love Your Own Way

"You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams"
-Dr Seuss

Dusky Lovers

Is it possible to be in love with love?

I love it when I stumble across young lovers in the street, there's something contagious about their togetherness, it makes me want to skip down the street, hum, sing...all with a silly grin.  Here they are, channeling their own blissful aura, intense gazes, secret smiles...arms entwined, cocooned like oysters in their own pearly shell.  I can't help but stare.  Oh sure, I try to do it surreptitiously, at first, a furtive peek, a sly glance over the shoulder but after a few wistful stares, I become brave and just stop...a little further down the path of course...trying not to bump into others who've also stopped to do the same...  Do you think they're even conscious of other souls hurrying around them?   Deep envious sigh.

And do you know what else I do?  I give them names, imagine their lives...take my star-crossed pair in the photo above.  That's James; her name's Camille.  James has to fly out tomorrow morning early...Camille doesn't want him to leave.  Don't you love the pigeon lovers watching them too?

How about you?  What catches your imagination on the streets these days?

Oh, to be young and to be in love. I think that haven't a clue of what's going on around them. I guess I'm like you, I'm curious when I see young lovers. I try to remember how it was to be carefree like that. I also, notice people on the street who look like they have a sad story to tell. My mind goes wild with what brought them to this place. I love the Dr. Seuss quote. Great Post! :D

I also love the Dr. Seuss quote. It's soooo true. Although I still feel that young love tingle when I see my husband, I sometimes miss the carefree nature of it all...when next year was a million years away, when reality hadn't quite sunk in, that next year would come faster than I thought. So, I really enjoyed how you expressed so much so beautifully and thank you for the smile and reflective glow I feel right now.

I had to learn the hard way that being in love with love does not a marriage make. Hollywood likes to portray that finding the soul mate will make your life perfect. Doesn't work that way. But I like the deeper kind of love. The kind that keeps you together even when you are sure you want to kick him to the curb for getting on your nerves for the very last time; the kind that makes you ignore that he really likes his ragged tank tops and shorts and wears them EVERYWHERE; the kind that makes you reach for him even after you've had a terrible argument because you want to desperately to be held.

Wow. Not sure where that all came from, but anyway. Yeah, young love and carefree love is great. But give me the deeper, long-lasting kind over it any day.

I love doing this too. I think I could lose an entire day people watching and adding details to their lives in my mind. Must be the writer in us. *sigh*
People watching--especially here in London--is quite entertaining. A fascinating way to spend a leisurely afternoon and imagine the stories behind the faces. Thanks for stopping by my blog today. It's always a treat to meet new blogging friends.

I'll be following Musings!

Love the Dr. Suess quote. My favorite was when my husband and I lived in Las Vegas. It's become such a popular place to get married that if you're downtown on a saturday night, you'll see tons of newly married couples out and about. It's fun.

I personally think Love IS being in love with love. We all long for that feeling, I think. And when we get even a hint of it, we clutch onto it so tightly hoping it's the real thing. But is it ever the 'real' thing, or is the real thing what we need to make it?

Hope everyone has a memory, even one, of such abandonment in love's caress.
I would enjoy seeing a photo of the people watching, and wondering what they were thinking or remembering.

Love is blind and lust is blinder:) And so it goes...

Where I live everyone seems to be texting all the time. I'm wondering if they'll end up with carpel tunnel thumbs.

After reading this, now I'm wondering if they text while making love. Hmmm. My guess is, probably.

Ah what lovely comments! ;)

@Brenda, thanks. Its a great quote isn't it? I'm drawn to sad faces along the streets or in parks too. It amazing what stories our imagination can come up with. ;)

@Kittie, thank you. I love that tingle too! *sigh* Oh to be carefree. Time passes but it still great to reflect though. ;)

@ Melissa, Wow! Great comments.

Maybe films and books influence us into thinking what ideal love is. I like to think they give us an escape from real life and that we all know what reality is. Its definitely that person we want to cuddle after an argument. Unconditional love sums it up for me.

Thanks so much for sharing! ;)

@Jessica, mmm that is quite a question! ;) I hope if its not the real thing then we'd be brave enough to let it go.

Oh Mya, I love that 'abandonment in loves caress." Yes,definitely. Everyone should experience that at least once in their lives. ;)

@Terry, Oh that's a funny thought.

You know if a guy is texting while making love his lady - its the last text he'll ever send! LOL And possibly... it'll be a long time before he makes love again. *cue evil laugh*
