D is for Drunk Dialling,-like, Don't do it?

How does that little dance play out again?  You're at a fabulous party, having fun and meet someone you 'like', -you 'click', exchange numbers and before you know - well...you're dialling, texting, messaging, facebooking, you're like, you know, everything -'thing'ing'...  Hands up those of you who haven't been there?  Come on, honestly...show of hands please!  That's better.  The thing is, when you're young - you're pretty damn hot, you are invincible, -you are the answer to Third World Poverty and World Peace.  Well, that was the plan.

And, then there are these little reminders - that you're not quite grown-up as you'd like to think.  Generally this happens, after you've indulged in a few nightcaps and reach for that phone... a word from the wise...well, not me - that's just a figure of speech. Don't do it.  Drunk-dialling someone, especially cute new guy, will lead to a road of...well, embarrassment, and worse, if with an Ex?! It's total, total, irrecoverable shame.  Drunk-dialling your family? Possibly gets you ostracised...oh wait, is...that a bad thing?

Let me name that feeling, that follows such er, reckless behaviour...it's-regret.  As in, the morning after the night before, that sinking feeling the second you hang up and you can't take back that message!  Check out this young lady's call...it's amusing yes, but also a wonderful reminder of what we would all prefer to forget about...because, like -we've all been there...

Haha! Even worse than drunk dialing is drunk querying--not that I've ever done that, but I know people who have!

Haha! Wow! Oh well, I've not quite got to 'sober querying' yet. Am still in the throes of editing. ;-)

Cool post...I have received drunk calls, and I can agree with all that you have to say.

Hah...great take on the letter D. I hear Samantha's comment, but what about drunk Facebook status'. Don't do it! lol

Haha, been there, done that? :) well not exactly, I don't call ppl often drunk or sober but texting... Hell yeah. I blame o2 and their unlimited plans. :)

LOL, funny post. I haven't really made any drunk calls. My sister had a boyfriend whose father got onto his son's facebook status drunk and dumped her... does that count?

OMG! I'm sooooooo glad I never did anything like that!

haha :) I've gotten more than enough calls to be way of this ;)

Following you from A-Z challenge!

Wow, I can safely say that I have never done that. Now having a few too many and talking like that to the person directly, oh yes. (hangs head in embarrassment)

My fried used to be the absolute worst drunk dialer. For awhile when he'd go out he'd hand over not just his keys but his cell also. Course than he'd just wander around town trying to find a phone he could use.

haha. Drunk FB status' can get pretty bad too. LOL. Not good!
D is also for Oh dear! oh dear! which is probably similar to what this caller said teh next day!

And drunk querying...ouch! I shudder to think! :)

(And thanks for your comment about the cover of my novel - much appreciated!)

Drunk querying, eh? That's an idea. A new use for 'Dutch Courage' that I'd never thought of!

I never drunk dialed, thank god, probably because the times I'd get drunk enough to think that was a good idea coincided with the times that I couldn't get my digits to work.

I thank my lucky stars I am SO much older! Hilarious, frigtening, sobering. Great post.

Haha, this was hilarious. Painfully and shamefully, I must admit to my once regrettable days of drunk dialing. It's part of the college experience. But alas, no more am I guilty of this vile tactic. Nice post!

At university I had a friend who would put the phone in the oven before she'd go out, because she woudl always drunk-dial her ex, but she'd never be able to find it until morning. I was always amazed at how well she could fool herself! LOL

Cat, miaow!

Damyantiwrites, always funny to look back on but at the time... ;-)

Salarsen, ha! I can put my hands up and say that I honestly haven't Facebooked under the influence. ;-) honest!

Wordyliving, hearing you on the texting!! O2 is definitely the root of the evil!

Cheree, wow! Really? That's a whole other level of drunk facebooking. Did your sister get him back?

Bish, it's all the rage these days! ;-)

Ju, you are wise! And thanks for the follow. ;-)

Melissa, face to face is infinitely more rewarding. ;-)

TS, haha! Am guessing your friend went through a number of keys?

Jessica, drunk FB status seems popular today!!

Judy, quite right. Oh dear indeed! We live and learn though.

Magpie, Ha! Good point, I think I recall dropping the phone a couple of times...a long, long time ago... *hides behind hands*

Anne, thank you! Lovely to meet you.

Matthew, it's a ritual..we must endure. Well, a great number of us. ;-)

Jen, hello! Watching is a whole lot more fun - and safer too!

Thursdays Child, ha! Thank you, I tried to follow you back to comment but your link is not working?

India, Haha! Phone in the oven? I hope she didn't turn the oven on in the morning. One of my flatmates would unplug the phone to stop herself from calling. Or, rather stop incoming calls so late at night. ;-)

I'm so glad I've never drunk dialed someone. I have, however, been on the receiving end. I've been asked out, I've been told I MUST break up with my boyfriend, I've been told I'm hot and... yeah, imaginations can go a little wild there. I've also had someone tell me they'd like to some really nasty stuff to me while drunk dialing once.

Glad to say I've never drunk dialed. I have drunk kissed though. Ugh.

Oh how glad I am that I was born when ladies just did not call gents. Though restrictive, I am sure it helped save a lot of face.

Wow, that was pathetic. Thank God I have never "drunk-dialed" and I have never received a call like that. I think I would have gotten "sick" also and left urgently. That is one call that would turn me off faster than anthing I know.

Drunk dialing is the worst. That girl must be mortified!

Back in my party days they didn't have all those things you said, but I may have made a few phone calls in my past when I was drunk--couldn't say for sure.
