N is for Narnia

"It isn't Narnia, you know," sobbed Lucy.  "It's you. We shan't meet you there.  And how can we live, never meeting you?"                                  - C.S Lewis  The Voyage of the Dawn Treader

As a child, who could resist 'The Chronicles of Narnia?'  It's another favourite of mine.  Imagination, is such a wild thing.  I have very fond memories crawling into the back of my mother's wardrobe, searching earnestly behind her coats, - for that secret passageway that would lead to this magical, mythical land. I dreamt of meeting the wonderful faun, Mr Tumnus, -I longed to sit in the White Witch's sleigh with the added promise of turkish delight, but mostly, I just wanted to meet Aslan, the noble lion with that magnificent mane, and I would dream of riding across Narnia on his back.  See, -with the magic world of books, anything is possible.

How about you?  Did you spend hours playing in Narnia?

A/N: Hello, it's a quick post for Saturday, I hope you are all enjoying your weekend.  I shall be shopping, writing and lunching.  Have a fab day! Talei x

I didn't read the Chronicles until I was an adult, so no, I never played in Narnia. But as an adult I definitely explored!

I found Narnia as adult as well. I love the stories...some of my favorite characters: Reepicheep, Puddleglum, Bree, Polly & Digory, the Beavers, and of course Aslan!

I've read and re-read Narnia since I was a little girl. It truly is magical -- and it only get more so the older I get.
i didn't find Narnia until i was in junior high, so i didn't do a lot of pretending about it, but i did wish i had a secret room at the back of my closet. in the movie, i love the scene you have pictured here - the way the sheet fell off the wardrobe was wonderful. and i love when she goes back after her return from Narnia and the professor is there to say he's already tried getting in that way, too.

I remember when I was a kid and first read the books, as soon as I had finished the series I started right back at the beginning and read through it again. Such was my love for the series.

Growing up in the US in the 70's I could not find turkish delight for love nor money. When I lived in London in the 90's I probably ate too much of the stuff. But I love Narnia, unapologetically and forever. Have you read The Magician's Book by Laura Miller? Great book about Narnia. Also, there's a wonderful short story by Neil Gaiman for those of us that think Susan got short shrift from C.S. Lewis towards the end. It's called The Problem of Susan.

BTW, I gave you the prestigious Versatile Blog Award. You can see it here: http://bit.ly/dXjs0w, if you are into awards and such. If not, that's totally cool. Consider it a virtual high five.

You know, it's strange. I read the first book when I was younger but then saw how many other books were in the series and was turned off. I also struggled following four main characters. I really wish I would've stuck with them though.

I hate to admit I never read them. I only found out about it when the first movie came out. One of these days I must read them.
I discovered Narnia through my daughter's eyes and found great delight there.
Nice to mee you on A to Z

Read the books as a child. Saw the musical as an adult with my father. Neither of us liked it - and the theology irritated by then. I have not been back to the books and I wonder if the musical experience would get in the way. I hate to think that it might.

Narnia was my very favorite place to go as a child and now I'm taking my nephew there. We are currently ensconced with Prince Caspian.

I love coming here to your beautiful site and I've tapped you with a Versatile Blogger Award. The badge is here http://melissasimaginarium.blogspot.com/ Your posts always make me smile and look at things differently.
I read the Narnia stories as a teenager but that didn't stop me from checking the backs of wardrobes ;)

I think the Narnia books were probably much more popular across the pond than here (or at least, more popular than here in Nebraska!). I read the first three Narnia books last year and loved them. :-) Growing up, though, I played Nancy Drew! Always did want to be a private detective.
