Y is for Yeats

"There a no strangers here, only friends you haven't yet met"
 - W.B. Yeats
*Irish Poet and playwright * Irish Senator *
William Butler Yeats
1865-1939
* Nobel Prize Laureate *Hopeless Romantic *
Yeat's poetry has an ethereal quality about it, a sadness, a longing but you can always, always feel the depth of his love.  It's almost within reach.  One of my favourite of Yeat's Love Poems?  I am partial to 'He Wishes for the Cloth of Heavens', - the last line of this poem sends shivers down my spine, 'tis awe inspiring. If I could pen a single line as beautiful as that, I would be happy.

He Wishes for the Cloth of Heavens
Had I the heavens embroidered cloths,
Enwrought with golden and silver light,
The blue and the dim and the dark cloths
Of night and light and the half-light,
I would spread the cloths under your feet;
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet;
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams

A/N: Hello dear friends, London, nay - the entire Nation has a holiday, well except for my dear shopping delivery man who tell's me 'it's a normal working day for me."  Technically, everyone, except Jolly Shopping Man, is celebrating the Prince Williams marriage to his dear lady, Kate.  Whatever the reason, there is a 'Street Party' in my hood, and yes, all the fence railings are covered in bunting.  I shall be preparing smoked salmon blinis and sipping champagne along with friends, just because... ahem, and can I just wish the Happy Bride and Groom a life filled with Yeats romantic prose? Yes, indeed.  Here's hoping.

PS:  I'm secretly hoping the Writhing Gown is indeed, Vintage Alexander McQueen...rumours are wild at this moment.  Can I admit to watching for the fashion?  I hear such and such is wearing....  *rubs hands excitedly*  Wot?!  I'm a lady who loves a good frock!  Happy Friday!

Hope you enjoyed the Royal Wedding! I had so much fun watching and making fun of some people's hat selections (Um, Princess Beatrice? Your dad called. He wants his hood ornament back.).

I thought the whole thing was AMAZING and I'm so glad I got up at 3:45am to watch it all!

Oh, yikes. I got so distracted by the wedding that I forgot to tell you that I absolutely agree about the beauty of the Yeats poem. Shivers is right!

You got your McQueen! Not vintage... but a lot of lace. I've come around a bit to the lace!

Loved watching the wedding and good to see you on Twitter there. :)

Yeats is such a brilliant poet.

TL Conway made me laugh about that hood ornament joke! I've never seen so many innovative hats before! What a spectacular wedding! :)

Yeats, my all time favorite poet, and you chose my all time favorite poem! In high school I won an interscholastic poetry reading contest by reciting "The Stolen Child."

Come away oh human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.
