A Fresh Start

Happy New Year's dear friends!  I wish you all the very best of health and happiness for 2011.  And may all your wildest dreams come true!  Dare I mention the 'R' word?  I always think the early part of 2011 is for reflection, relaxation, rest - and yes, if you wish - resolutions.  I've decided to make a few declarations - in the hope that if I say it out aloud - I must follow through.  Please feel free to nudge me, if I fall off the path and into a ditch.

My Writing Declarations of 2011

1.  More writing, less tweeting.  This should also be applied to facebook...unless of course, I am stalking my favourite authors, in which case -there must be allowances.

2.  Finish the revisions of my first piece of Women's Fiction, and move onto the querying.

3.  Read more!  Reading begets writing and good literature requires good reading.  Read one book a week.

4.  Write on time.  My Muse has appointed GI Jane as my drill sergeant  "You shall write posts on schedule and at least 4 hours before bewitching hour!"

5.  Dare to dream.  Follow your inspirations, act on your instincts and realise your dreams.  If anyone else can do it - so can you!

How about you?  Are you making declarations this year?

Could not agree with you more about the reading thing-- and the better material I read the better I write, I find. Happy New Year!

I made a few. :-) Get the novel done, edited, and start querying it to agents. Expand my writing to include articles/essays or short stories.

I made some resolutions and tacked them up on my wall where they'll stare me in the face daily. Mainly to query 3 projects, lose weight, excercise, and get closer to God.

Good luck with your declarations. I really LOVE #5. I think I'm going to steal it.

Great declarations. Writing them down is the way to go. I write my 'hopes' for new year in a new journal every year and have been surprised at how much I have achieved.

Good luck.

Good goals! (haha, the "R word") My goals are to streamline my blogging and do my writing FIRST rather than vice versa. I think I'll get more writing done that way. Plus exercise, play my piano a bit (oh yeah, is that what that piece of furniture in my living room is??), and do my daily Bible reading.

That's a great list... I'll be following one quite similar. :)
Wow, these are pretty good! I'm concentrating on following through....and trying to get at least one book per month read. I'm hoping I'll be heavy into editing my nano novel and writing....

Good luck!

Melissa G, thank you and #5 is there for the sharing. ;) You must follow your dreams!

Button Patch, thanks and good luck with yours too! I'm making mental note to buy new notebook tommorrow. Great reminder. :)

Carol, I agree, putting your writing before blogging is a priority. I'm going to work on that too. And piano - I wish I had one here. Good luck with your goals! ;)

You have some great goals! I could definitely benefit from number four, as I often leave my post writing to the last minute.

The only thing I'm declaring for this year is to have fun doing whatever I do, which includes writing, reading, eating, playing...you get the picture :)
