E is for Ernest...
Hemingway, that is.
A man's got to take a lot of punishment to write a really funny book' - Ernest Hemingway
Mr Hemingway, -Sir, to we plebeians, and well, just Mr H to his nearest and dearest. I made that last bit up. You can call him what you like, just make it a good name. Ernest Hemingway, an amazing journalist, a talented author -and a lover of life...yes, despite the tragic ending, I think he lived an incredible life.
'Madame, all stories, if continued far enough, end in death,
and he is no true-story teller who would keep that from you.'
and he is no true-story teller who would keep that from you.'
Actually, I have another confession to make...I'm obsessed with Paris, -I've always dreamt of living the life of an artist, painting for a pittance...and well, that would never work - but the idea of being Parisian and creating great works of art...it's something I've wanted since a young child, a long, long...just ages ago.
'Prose is architecture, not interior decoration, and the Baroque is over' - Ernest Hemingway
I blame Hemingway, I blame Picasso, I blame Monet, I blame all the fabulous writers and artists that I read about as a young girl -they're the inspiration behind the Paris dream. Of course, 1920's or 30's Paris is not the same as 2011 Paris, but still...
'There is nothing to writing. All you do is sit down at a typewriter and bleed.. - Ernest Hemingway
I may not live there, but I visit often and it's still my favourite city in Northern Europe...Thank you Mr H and Co.
'An intelligent man is sometimes forced to be drunk to spend time with his fools.' -Ernest Hemingway
'You're beautiful, like a May fly.'
-Ernest Hemingway
How about you? Any aspirations of living bohemian style in Paris circa 1930's?

Goodandbadjapan - J'adore! I travel there for work sometimes but the best trips are for pleasure and catching up with friends. I will never tire of Paris, never...

Visited Hemingway House last summer and enjoyed seeing the six-toes cats that are descendants of his cats.
